Walk into Steppin’ Out Performing Arts Center on a Monday night and you’ll likely hear laughter, music, and the sound of polished tap shoes hitting the floor — that’s how you know the Divas are in the building.

This isn’t your average adult dance class. The Divas are a bold, dynamic group of women (and sometimes men) who train, perform, and compete with the kind of confidence and fire that only comes from real-life experience. Formed in 2007, the very same year the studio opened its doors, this group has become a fixture at Steppin’ Out — a living legacy of passion, perseverance, and fierce choreography.

 

They specialize in three dance styles — Tap, Jazz, and most recently, Hip-Hop (added to their repertoire in 2025). And whether they're hitting the stage in rhinestones or rehearsing in sneakers, one thing is clear: they don’t play when it’s time to dance.

 

But don’t let the “adult” part fool you. The average Diva might be “forty-something-ish,” but their energy is pure Sasha Fierce. These women train hard, practice smart, and compete like pros — with the trophy shelf to prove it. Over the years, they’ve earned countless regional and national titles, often leaving younger teams stunned by the Divas’ power, presence, and polish.

 

And yet, it’s not all 8-counts and costume changes. What makes the Divas truly special is their sisterhood. They’re a tight-knit crew, known for inside jokes, the occasional good-natured prank, and a shared love for dance that extends far beyond the studio walls. They plan outings, celebrate life milestones together, and support each other like family — because that’s exactly what they’ve become.

 

Some Divas are former dance moms, now stepping into the spotlight themselves. Others are mother-daughter duos, with daughters joining after graduating from Steppin’ Out’s youth company. The blend of ages, backgrounds, and life stories makes this team as inspiring offstage as they are on it.
